I got my first ever dui. And believe me I’m really sorry. I figure I have a mountain to climb now to restore things back to normal. Question is, does anyone know what the fines will be for a first timer? In addition, how about lawyers fees? How long will I be without a license?
I was arrested with a .10 bac.

I am thinking of doing jail time instead of having to pay the hefty fines and fees. This is my first offense.

Jessie Q asked:
This is my 1st DUI in Los Angeles, CA with a .16BAC, what kind of penalties for a 1st time? I already hired a lawyer for my case. What is life after a first DUI (such as auto loans, student loans, reputation, jobs) going to look like?

I am getting a divorce and my husband is trying to take advantage of me and I don’t have money for a good lawyer. I talked to legal aid and they only file for paperwork and don’t go to trial. I really need help. If anyone knows any lawyers in the Central Florida area that are cheap or are willing to take on pro bono cases, I would greatly appreciate it!!

I live in Ohio. I am a legal immigrant so you will wonder how much about US laws I know about. I filed a divorce against my husband because he has been cheating on me and wouldn’t stop even after we talked to a pastor and his father. I already paid my lawyer retainer fees since January of this year. I tried to call him again and again in during February and March to know the progress. He got mad at me on the phone and told me he didn’t like me calling all the time. Said he’s gonna charge me. So I stopped and decided that if there is a progress, he would just call me. He never did. All info I know, I usually get from the county court website, even the date of pre-trial hearing. Then 11 days before the final hearing, he said he’s backing out as my lawyer. He said it is my fault because I wouldn’t let him do a deposition against my husband. The only reason I won’t is because I don’t our fight to be even worse and that I know he really doesn’t make much income than I do.
I asked him to make an offer to my husband’s lawyer but he backed out of my case on the day he sent the offer to the other lawyer. Is this legal? I feel like it is unfair and that he took advantage of me. How do you even deal with lawyers like these?
Yes, I told him what to do because he asked me. If he is going to do HIS job, he can just do the deposition without my permission. When I retained him, I assume he knows what to do. Him asking me gives me the go to say yes or no. If not, why bother asking?

Heather H asked: I’m looking to find a good lawyer that practices in or around the Alexandria/Springfield area. I’m hoping this divorce isn’t particularly complicated, but knowing my soon-to-be-ex, you never know. I’m also hoping to find someone that isn’t going to cost me a fortune.
Anyone have any tips or suggestions?
