Does anyone know a good experienced family law attorney In Spokane Wa.?
We have been having issues with my step daughters mother. We do not have a a big chunk of money for a large retainer fee but could easily make weekly payments. We really need someone who is willing to work with us. There is a parenting plan that was put together in 2004 the child was 8 at the time. The mother is the custodial parent and both the child and father want the plan changed giving the father custody with the mother having visitation. We do need an attorney, whether or not the father is granted custodial parent or not the plan still needs to be modified and the mother will not cooperate with us. We have documented a years’ worth of issues and there is one case with CPS against the mother. Does anyone have any good recomentions. We know children can notchoose who they live with but there has been issues with the other parent and we are in hopes of getting her into our home where there is less stress, more stabiity, and most imporantly no yelling, swearing, and hitting of the child.

Raedwald asked:

My mother would like to request a change of judge for a family law case between her and my father (her ex-husband), and we are wondering about two things: 1) Is there is a legal form we need to fill out to do this? We haven’t found any in our research so far. 2) Is a change of venue possible for a family law case like this–when one side lives in one area and the other side in another area about fifty miles away–or does it apply only to criminal cases? I ask these questions because we believe that this judge in our former residence cannot be fair to my mother when my father is a well-known D.A. in that area who campaigned on behalf of the judge’s wife.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Raphy asked:

During proceedings concerning child support and custody situations is there ever an option of simply splitting custody jointly and completely absolving either party of child support payment?

I’m not familiar with family law at all- have no idea what happens in those sessions but I’m curious because i don’t think I’ve ever heard of situations where both parents simply split custody (half the time with papa and the other half with mama) and therefore ruling that neither party should pay child support.

And wouldn’t this make more sense than mandatory child support payments?- I don’t know the answer to this- hence the asking of the question
Oh and this question is meant to imply even if there is a difference in income
thanks Joe but I meant as a primary option if feasable (they live close enough to make it work for example) even if one party would rather take the money

Family Law help - PLEASE !!!!!?
I have a pre-existing case with my daughter mom. 6 years ago she was arrested for Prescription forgery, but the courts decide that my daughter should live with her. 6 months ago her moms life fell apart and she attempted suicide. My daughter now lives with me full time, and I am now having to go back to court because I have proof her mom is using Meth. In our previous order the judge imposed random drug screening which she passed for about 5 yrs. Do I have a right when I go back to court to have her tested still. I don’t want her to have the chance to clean her self up and lie. She needs help, and it is affecting my daughter(age 15) who is the one who found the drugs. Her momdoesn’tt know that she found them either. Please help

If a man or woman is brought before court and the court considers he or she guilty of domestic violence, is this sufficient for you to believe it as well?

If so, why?

If not, why not?
Arthur: No offense, but you are pretty naive about the courtroom (whether you are a law student or not). I wish the courts really WERE as you say. Alas, not!
Wow! (shaking my head in wonder)
