He will just have to write about what he's been doing - day to day stuff that will get past the censor. Can he mention grandparents? If so, what they are doing and have been doing. Presumably, if they do write back in response to such an innocuous letter, he may be able to answer any questions in their letter to him if, say, they ask about their belongings/brother etc. It sounds like it's very early days so he'll have to tread pretty carefully and probably the censorship will gradually get lifted as time goes on provided the kids aren't upset and they ask to write back. I'm sure his son still remembers and if drops little hints....just a thought. I didn't know what to say I am speechless, but felt the need to try to come up with something!
