How do you find information about my mother in law’s family in France?
Ronnie N asked:
My mother-in-law passed away some years ago.. We know very little about her family. She was an immigrant from France, she had 2 sisters and 1 brother. We would like to find some information about her family. How do you go about doing this when you don’t have much information?

You would need her maiden surname to start with, and if she was married in France, her married name. You would preferably also want to know the first names of her siblings and roughly where they were born or live/lived in France. Where was she born? Some dates e.g. her date of birth and death, would help.
After having these details I would look at where I can find French archives, census details, birth and death registers, parish registers etc. close to the area she came from. Some of these may be on-line. Or you may find some French genealogy websites that may be able to give advice / help.
