Child support in the U.S. takes longer than a few weeks.
I would suggest you relax. The minute you filed for support the clock began ticking so that your ex, IF he is found to be the child’s father and IF he is ordered to pay support, will be paying from the time the action was filed.
As to how much, no one here can tell you that.

Contact the Child Support Division at your city/county courthouse. For your state you should have, on line, the Child Support Calculator. Enter the numbers requested, should give you a figure.

It all depends on how much money your ex makes.

The best way to get child support is thru your local Child Support Enforecement office. You may not be able to force your ex to visit his child, but you can MAKE him support him/her. Child Support Enforcement will automatically garnish his paycheck and send you the money via mail or a check card. They will also assist you with establishing paternity if this has not been done yet. Click the following link to locate your local office:http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cse/extinf.html
Depending on the state you live in, the process should take anywhere from 6weeks to 6months. Support is determined on both of your incomes and it may also require that he maintain health insurance for your child.
Since you have already begun the process, contact your case worker to inquire about the status.
Good luck!
