You will find one just after you find an oxymoron! Cave Creek

The best way to find a lawyer with good character references is to call your county bar association. You did not say which state your are from but each state has a Bar Association - and the lawyers must be in good moral standing in order to be members. You will also get a discount for your first consolation if referred via the Bar Association. Tigerspaw357

Other than finding them by reputation, there is this source:

You want a Peer Review rating of Preeminent (5.0 out of 5) if possible.

Here is an example of one who is thought of highly in my area: coldfuse

When I needed one for a custody battle, I didn’t have any idea who to get. So, I got the phone book and picked the first one in the yellow pages that lived in the next town. We were fighting against the most influential people in our small town (the ex-wife’s parents), so didn’t want a lawyer in our town that they would have bought off. The lawyer that I randomly picked turned out to be a gift from God. He was able to get us custody of my step-daughter and we didn’t have any money to speak of. He was awesome! Lizzie

I agree with getting one from a different town or county. The ones that work together regularly have other deals going on and family ties you don’t know about. cool breeze ~
