Because you have a child by a man to whom you have not been married, everything will be a bit more complicated and expensive. The future of your child will rely in part on the legal protection you provide.
There are few attorneys who will take payments on this kind of case. And you probably do not want those attorneys. This is too important to you and your child.
Go into debt. Take on another job. Borrow from family or friends. You will need to have a good lawyer, and they are not cheap.
The local bar association’s lawyer referral service may be able to help you. The initial visit with a referred attorney is $20 for 30-minute consultation.
