My brother-in-law was stabbed by girlfriend and he is still protecting her. What can the family do?

Stressing Susan asked:

Last Sunday my brothre-in-law’s girlfriend stabbed him in the arm into the back an inch away from his lung. She admitted to the police that she did what she did but hid the knife. She is out of jail today because the DA states there is not enough evidence since the weapon was never found. Is that possible? Can someone stab you and not be able to keep her in jail simply because the weapon is missing?

Sounds like a lazy DA to me. How many people have been charged with murder and the body has never been found. Good Lord…the woman admitted to stabbing him. Your brother is emotionally screwed up if he won’t press charges against her. It will take time for him to see the light as they say. I feel bad that he thinks he needs to live with a crazy person.

no witness - no weapon - tough case but DA should run with it - open admission
