My family and I are in need of some help. Does anyone know a lawyer from CA who does pro bono for family law?

custody issues are decided by “what is in the best interests of the child”.
maybe the fact that your sister has no money is part of the reason custody was modified? if so, it doesn’t mean she is not a good mom, only that a different situation is judged to be better for your nephew.

Your best bet is to contact California Rural Legal Assistance. I live in Sonoma County and I know they have an office here. 725 Farmer’s Lane, Santa Rosa 95405 707 528 9941. I’m not sure about other parts of the state.
