We live in michigan and don’t have the time or money to check out every available town to live in. Any feedback on towns such as Carrollton, FlowerMound, Mesquite, Colleyville, and Grapevine would be appreciated. We are a family of four with two children 2 and under. Thanks for all the info!

My father-in-law preached in Colleyville, so I only flew through. It was a nice town and the people in this one restaurant seemed friendly. I’m sure you’ve heard of Plano. It is growing really quickly and has many stores.

All the towns you listed are very family oriented. (I used to live in Ft Worth).

Mesquite is the closest to Dallas (easy access for your hub to commute)

Good LUCK. Texas is great. I still live here and have many friends from Michigan who love Texas too.

    WELCOME

I grew up in the metroplex… I have lived in Bedford/Grapevine/Colleyville/NRHills areas.
Honestly, it depends on what you want…
My parents kept us in Bedford for so long because when you get into the Grapevine/Colley/Southlake area people get REALLY snobby. The high schools in those areas are also steroid-heavy…
So my family has a nice house in a good neighborhood in Bedford, and I went to Trinity High School. I went to Meadow Creek Elementary which I LOVED, and it is still great. But Harwood Junior High was not as good… and I loved Trinity, everyone does.
If you are looking for friendly and affordable, go to the Bedford/ HEB area. If you want a little higher class, go Colleyville/Grapevine- good location, not as friendly. My friends and I went to Southlake on weekends for shopping and such.
I would also HIGHLY suggest looking at the new homes in HERRITAGE- Fort Worth, TX (North Beach Street, Herritage Trace, off of 35 North I believe).
-My parents are both Realators I guess it has rubbed off. (In the Bedford, Colleyville, Flowmo areas if you need help).

Some of the better paying agencies around the metroplex are flower mound, grapevine, colleyville, southlake, keller, coppell, frisco, plano, mckinney, addison, and farmers branch. They are all pretty good as far as family towns…if you are looking for just small family towns that you could live in and he could work somewhere else in the metroplex, try justin, roanoke, argyle, aubrey, corinth, lake dallas, hickory creek, trophy club, westlake, northlake, sanger, little elm, and the colony.

My Boyfriend works for FMPD and the pay is pretty good and the town is really nice. However, to live there, you either have to be really rich or really poor. They have some of the nicest homes in the area, yet they have more trailer parks in their city limits in the whole county. We live in grapevine and it is very nice, but also expensive…anything decent is about $200,000.00.

I recommend Frisco. It is a town just north of Dallas. It is a very good community for families. The crime rate is low. It has great shopping. The restaurants are great. The neighborhoods are also good. The town has about 95,000 people. A Forbes survey stated that Frisco was the 8th fastest growing suburb in America. This is obvious because in 2000, Frisco has 33,00 people. This is the community I would recommend but any town in the northern Dallas area is a good one. I do not have any information on any daycare or preschool programs. There are also a lot of beautiful churches in the Dallas area that are great churches. I recommend a Nazarene church. God Bless!*

Granbury is a very nice town. You should drive down sometime to check it out. Its about 30 miles SW of Fort Worth.

Those towns are all nice. I have friends in Flower Mound, and really like it. They’re all SOUTH of the city though. You might want to try NORTH, like Allen, McKinney, Lucas, Melissa or Anna. It’s alot less congested there, and the schools are EXCELLENT. You’ll find larger lots in Lucas, Melissa and Fairview too….

Honestly you need to find a job first and then settle on where to live. Dallas is so big (and don’t forget Ft. Worth) that with the price of gas today you really need to live as close as you can to where you work.
