You could check with the Nebraska Housing Authority (or whatever it is called). Check in your phone book state listings.

You might try Google for rental laws in Nebraska.

But if a two bedroom isn’t too much more I would recommend it b/c you and your husband really do need the privacy. So does your son.

If it is too cost prohibitive to go with the two, perhaps you could work something out to reduce the rent by doing odd jobs around the complex?

Perhaps you could look in another complex where a two b/r won’t be as much?

It may be a county or city statute, or simply what the landlord’s occupancy permit states. It could also be a rule that the landlord defined. Check with other landlords in your area to see if any would rent a one bedroom apartment to three people. Often occupancy limits are in place to be sure the plumbing and sewer system can handle the number of people in each apartment.

I believe it is actually a law that your son has to have his own room. I don’t know exactly what age it begins but I’m sure a 3-year-old has to have his own. It is also a Dept of Human and Health Services issue as well. Call around….

National Fire Safety Codes restrict 2 people per bedroom. You wouldn’t get the apartment
