Need advice regarding family law rights in Australia?
Mandie asked:
I have shared custody with my ex-husband with our 17 month old daughter… I am planning to go interstate next week with her for a few days for a mini holiday. He says I cant go interstate without his permission.. is this correct.?
Can someone please inform me on what I can or cannot do.. we have always worked out visitation between us without the courts and so far up until now it has worked out well

I believe your ex husband is correct, you need to discuss it with him and if he doesn’t agree then you have to go through the courts. It sounds like his being stubborn but think about how he feels, he might think your trying to run off with her. I think you should have a heart to heart conversation with him as adults and set his mind at rest, but remember if he allows you to take your daughter interstate then you must allow same trust when he wishes to do so as well. GOODLUCK. bebe
