Opinions about Afghanistan’s Shiite Family Law?
I’m sure you’ve seen it if you watch the news. This is the one where the wives HAVE to have sex with their husband so many times etc.
I’d really like to hear from people who are of this origin or culture/background/religion if possible, but any opinions are welcome.
Alvie, is it true that women aren’t given the choice to provide for themselves?
if that’s true, how do they work when one of the laws is that they cannot leave the house without their husband?

DON’T WORRY! Those husbands are psychopaths. Islam is actually a peaceful religion, but when it comes to those guys, they disgrace Islam.

Perhaps many western reporters are so much against this law that they didn’t bother to find out exactly what this law says.
The cleric who backs this law say that it’s only meant to introduce some fairness into marriage. The husband is supposed to support his wife and provide for her in every way. While at the same time he has no right to have sex with any other woman besides his wife. Which means that the wife should make an effort to satisfy her husband sexually. And if she doesn’t, then the husband shouldn’t be obligated to support her financially and provide for her.
According to this cleric, this law is simply a kind of guidance for people to draw up their marriage contracts. And it doesn’t in any way allow husbands to rape their wives.
But I can see why this law is so abhorrent to so many western reporters. In USA and most other western countries, husbands are often forced to support their wives even after divorce. While women have no moral or legal obligation to sexually satisfy their husbands even during their marriage.
P.S.
According to that article whose link I posted above. Shiite laws and traditions give women the freedom to work outside of home and support themselves as they wish.
Sunni Muslims are more restrictive in their treatment of women. And it was the Sunni Taliban who prohibited women from working in the past.
And this controversial Family law applies only to Shiite Muslims and not to Sunni Muslims.

Bigots. Criminals. Evil fundamentalists. That is what they Taliban is all about. They are so stupid, does this stupid country know that half or even MOST of their brain power is in their women! It is a despicable law and should not even come into question of existing. I cannot stand how these uneducated, crazy, bigots use our religion as an excuse to cover up women from head to toe, not let them get educated, make them child brides, and force them into marital rape. It makes me so angry that these people are staining my religion.
