My dad had a child with a woman (never married) 7 years ago, and awhile after they split up she moved to Colorado. My dad still lives in Washington State, and hasn’t seen his son for over 3 years. The one time he was going to, she wouldn’t let him unless he stayed in Colorado the whole time.( which is pretty much impossible, unless it was for a very short time) My dad wants visitation so he can stay with him for awhile( summer or school year) What are the visitation laws? Can the mom really make him stay there just to see his son? My dad pays child support. A little background on the mom is that she has seven kids, all with different dads (except 2) and has lost custody of all of them except for 3, and one left the day she turned 18. The other two are my dads son, and a girl that she had with a guy in Colorado. Any advice on the steps my dad could take to get visitation? BESIDES just get a lawyer.
Does he have to physically go to Colorado to file those papers?
