CW asked:
Thank you for your response to my question. -
” Why is adultery not recognized and punishable under family law? Does this serve the family members?
If the family is our basic institution - the one that all other institutions are based on, why is it that its members are not protected from others who trespass (adultery) and from a partner who is negligent of his/her oath and vow to love, honour, obey, …to be faithful, loyal, and diligent to protect and honour all members of the family? What about “alienation of affection” regarding the partner that has been betrayed? I would like to know why our family law ignores this yet, in contrast, contract and civil laws do examine similar issues, ie., trespassing, breaking of contracts, etc.”
Do you think society is ready to have the F.L. Act challenged in this regard under Civil Law? Lawyers I spoke to can’t agree if marriage is a status or a contract? Is it time to bring a class action suit to address issue? Would you support it?

Mary J asked:
I got married 3 months ago and a week after our honeymoon my brother in law’s family came to visit him during the summer. So he decided to stay at our house without even asking. They ended up staying for a month and a half. His wife and kids made a mess of our home and for this reason I dont want them to return for the holidays. He has his own place which he shares with a roomate but prefers to bring his family to our home. His family will be coming back for the holidays and he’s been telling other family members that he will be staying at our house when he hasn’t even asked me or my husband if it’s okay. I dont want this to become a big family issue and I do feel bad not wanting them to stay but I feel it’s not right what he’s doing. I guess he just assumes it’s okay since we have 2 spare rooms. My husband agrees with me for not wanting them to stay. How can we resolve this issue without hurting anybody’s feeling?

Dog Rescuer asked:
My family members are In the beginning of settling an estate …What is the difference between a wills & probate lawyer versus a family law and divorce lawyer…A brother who CLAIMS to be in charge of the estate sent paper work to me ….I looked up the lawyer he hired and the lawyer is called a Family law and divorce lawyer…….The type attorney I need to hire to settle quit claim deeds and repairs and upgrades made to the property left to the family is a Probate and will lawyer…Correct??..This brother who on the death of my mother DID NOT give a reading of the will and also DID NOT send any of the 6 kids a copy of her will…He is now demanding over $10000 in back taxes our mom paid already..as well as repairs he made when he was given power of attorney to manage the property. He consulted nobody else on the deed about this….He is now going after everyone by the throat to cough up $2000- $3000 in 10 days OR ELSE…Is it a Wills and probate lawyer we contact??

TroubleMaker asked:
Statistics being what they are and averages being averages I would suspect that we would have thousands of arrests each year of family members of police officers .
So why is it I tried a few searches and came up empty handed . Help me find arrests of law enforcements family members please .
Oh yeah this is in the politics section because I find people here to be of above average intelligence in most cases compared to the rest of the categories .

I am close with my brother’s wife and the rest of her family but I have trouble when I try to describe our familial relationship to other people. Is there a term for the parents and siblings of your sister-in-law? What about the siblings’ spouses?

Mrs. Mojo Jojo asked:
A member of your family is commiting check fraud. They are signing checks made out to them from another family members checking acct. You find out, what do you do?
Checking acct. belongs to an elderly family member who suffered a stroke. Another family member knows of the monies in the victims acct. and begins to forge the elderly persons signiture to write checks to themselves for the $$$$. Hope that clarifies it for some.
This is a HYPOTHETICAL question.
