Some men are getting screwed, just like some women, but it sounds as though quite a few men think the money they made was theirs and should always be theirs, and they are absolutely livid that their ex actually has control over their income. I think the men's movement is not growing, but the number of people who are angry is increasing. I don't see how these men can be so naive, that they are not aware of the risks of marriage and having kids-if I saw the risks, why are there so many clueless people who act like they had no idea that their marriage can end in divorce, and that if they make more money, they'll be supporting their kids the rest of their lives? I cannot speak for another country, but here in Canada I think that for too long fathers have taken a back seat to the detriment of their children. In my professional experience, I have witnessed many times parents using the children as tools of revenge. Although I have seen this occur on both sides, I think that women using the children against the father in a retaliatory manner happens moreso than the reverse. This is because courts often favour the children staying with the mother. In Canada, we are moving towards a less adversarial court process that is in the best interests of the CHILDREN. Both parents need to realize that their actions greatly impact the children negatively and every concession should be made to protect the children from this. It is about the children folks and parents embroiled in custody/access cases often times forget or are oblivious to how their children are fairing. As a social worker and a feminist, I put the best interests of the children at the forefront of concern where sometimes parents fail to see how they are negatively impacting the kids. Children need both parents and for far too long, fathers have been getting the short end of the stick in this regard. EDIT: TD?
