primarily divorces, custody, adoption, guardianships. it’s hard when kids are involved, especially kids that are being abused. don’t let me discourage you from pursuing law though. it is a very interesting, very broad topic with many different areas from which to choose. if you stay honest, it’s possible to help a lot of people, and it’s very rewarding. jlcjd

Our family lawyer is set to handle all rental property disputes, power of attorney, trust fund accounts, he will also take care of division of the assets when family members die, etc. Our family strictly leaves relationship problems such as divorce, adoption, or child support to the families, they are not able to use the family lawyer for emotional disputes.
So it all depends on what the family wants, our lawyer is there for asset protection and care, others want one there for actual relationship or possession issues, and some want a lawyer for it all, either way you’d make great cash! psylockegurl

Family attorneys deal primarily with custody issues, divorce, domestic violence petitions, adoptions and other legal issues.

While it can be interesting, I find it frustrating and draining. With respect to custody/alimony/etc., no one party is ever satisfied. They always want more and they often want you to make the other side look bad. Many of these clients either take their frustrations out on their attorney.

At DNA hearings as a GAL, often times you feel very bad for your client as they have had/are having a rough life.

I prefer criminal work - but to each his own. Good luck.

Adoptions are awesome - but not worth the rest of it. Chris McC
